NCCP coaching levels come in two different types - Trained and Certified.
Trained levels are the result of completing the basic tasks and require no further work from the coach. Generally, House/DS Head Coaches and all Assistant Coaches required trained status. OWHA regulations state that Trained status is only valid for 5 years, after which the coach must either continue the training path, or retake their current course level.
Certified levels are the result of completing the assigned tasks and evaluations of a given course. All competitive Head Coaches for U-13 and above require this level. In order to maintain a certified status, coaches must accrue 10 Professional Development Points within 5 years. These points can be obtained through many streams, such as:
This is the final step for Coaching 2, Development 1, and High Performance 1 coaching levels. The course can be done in-person or on-line and takes approximately 4 hours, for a cost of $75-$85.
The Coaches Association of Ontario provides a bursary each year to assist with the cost of Coach Clinics/Development. The award is up to $300.00 per coach each year.
